The AMD Zacate and Ontario processors are part of AMD's Fusion platform which combines a low power processor with a high performance graphics. Over the past week or so we saw many companies announcing notebooks with the 18W dual core AMD Zacate chips, and now Acer has announced a netbook with the 9 W AMD Ontario processor. The Acer Aspire One 522 has a 1GHz dual core C-50 Ontario chip with built-in Radeon HD 6250 graphics. The laptop is now up for pre-order at Amazon.
The Aspire One 522 is available in solid black and green/black. It is priced at $329.99.
The Aspire One 522 also has 1GB of DDR3 memory, a 250GB hard drive, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, 1.3MP webcam, 3 USB 2.0 ports, and a 6-cell, 4400mAh battery. It runs Windows 7 Starter Edition. Acer claims that the netbook will get around 6 hours of battery life. The laptop is expected to have a 1280 x 720 pixels display. It can output 1080p HD video and has also got an HDMI port.
