The Register reports (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/11/16/apple_amd_laptop_claim/) that Apple may be developing an AMD based solution, although details are very sketchy at this moment in time.
As they say, Core 2 Duo still has the lead, but there is the fact that AMD just bought ATI... Apple may prefer to get more bits from one supplier...

I don't really see why anyone thinks that Apple is not taking responsibility what's going on with the iPhone 4. They are saying that this signal attenuation is a problem, but that's it's not uncommon in regards to cell phones and that other reputable companies make devices with similar problems. This, in my opinion is great PR. They are bringing the topic down to a relatable level where most people can see that it's not because they don't care about the their products anymore or are not worried about maintaining their good image. Does anyone seriously believe they rushed this out just to get some more money without properly testing it? I have spent a lot of time with the new iPhone and have noticed that it performs incredibly well and that the supposed "signal attenuation" issue people blew out of proportion is something I have to go out of my way to achieve. Sure I might accidentally do it a few times in the phones life time, but I already had minor hiccups with the 3GS that didn't make the phone worthless. Honestly, if the phone bothers anyone that much, just get that free bumper. And I believe Apple is offering a money back option for returning the phone.

I understand that it's unfair that the other companies do that and all, but Apple really doesn't need to stoop to their level, do they?
They're not stooping. They are defending their product by demonstrating that the issue is not unique to their phone. I think most people instinctively knew this before the iPhone - telling someone that holding a phone a certain way might reduce the signal would have resulted in a shoulder shrug. Of course it will, it's a radio.
The N1 can't maintain a 3G signal when touched, period. Yet it didn't cause this kind of outcry because it wasn't from Apple.

Even though I own two iPhone 4's I never experienced being a meat sandwich so that survey is mostly bullshiznit.
Honestly, I don't buy the iPhone to show off but because it is a photography tool for my art studio.
I believe there are plenty of good cameras in the market at the same price with a iPhone, you picked iPhone instead?

I don't know if I'd even want them to bother if it's only going from 3.5 to 3.7. Doesn't seem like the difference would be noticeable.It's The Dual Core A5 Inside And The Better Rear Camera That Are Most Important. While I'm all for up to a 4" screen within a similar to the current size form factor, I know from iPad 2 experience that the A5 is the most important new component. Performance is radically better with A5 inside. :)
I would really appreciate a 64GB storage model even if I had to pay $399 for it. I don't know what the market is for that much storage capacity. Might be too small for Apple to bother offering. But I keep wishing for this each year.
My guess is it will ship in the September-October time frame - early Fall. I also think they may add T-Mobile as a carrier then, perhaps even Sprint. I think it's only a matter of another year or two at the most for iPhones to be on all major US domestic carriers.

Not again... The database in question is NOT used by Apple to actively track users. It's a local cache on your phone, sent to you from Apple. This database serves a legitimate purpose on your phone to improve the performance of location services.
The issue is that this DB can be used by others (not Apple) to gain in-site into your relative location over time. Technically I wouldn't even call this a 'bug' since it's working as designed. However it is a serious oversight on Apples part.
FTR - Apple does collect location data from your phone (assuming you opted-in). This tracking is done via entirely different process than is being discussed.
That's only one aspect of the situation.
The kill switch was defective. The new update fixes that so that it works as per the EULA and as per advertised (and common sense).

Aw, Ugg, c'mon. Sounds like the NRA lobbyist merely said something on the order of, "If you're gonna do this sort of thing, don't do the fine." This issue has been a source of turmoil in Florida for quite a while. I've no idea what doofus started wanting pediatricians to snoop into family affairs, but the anti-gun crowd has pushed for it. (An appropriate answer to such an idiotic question would be, "Well, of course! What kind do you want? What do you carry?")

Yes for the iPod bug fixes - I've been getting a weird one on my 3GS where album art isn't loaded correctly for the track that's playing - sometimes it'll pull the Genius Playlist album cover for the playlist that song is in (when I'm not on Genius anyway) and sometimes entirely different albums by different groups.

Never before have they seemed so adrift. While revenue is always of great importance, usually its one element, not the only one that matters. While Apple makes an effort to appear as though they want to make a difference, a contribution to progress and change, its the race to the bottom that is of concern.
To simplify every aspect to its lowest common denominator. No education required.

another thing people should keep in mind is...why release all new products at one event when you can stagger the release and keep interest over a longer period of time.
i.e macbook pro updates are coming, just like most of things people want (although SOME of the things some people want are just downright crazy), but it wont happen at once, and its gonna take a while!

1. It adds a lot of features and answers requests.
2. It's a free update.
3. This is a photography event, and people were caught off guard when Apple showed their photography product, despite the Aperture image right on the invitation.
4. Apple never releases hardware on Tuesdays, so there is no hope for any MacBook Pro updates tomorrow.
5. There will never be another chance for new MacBook Pros. We now know that the current models will be sold forever and ever, even after Apple goes out of business, which will happen by the end of the year.
