    Sen Sessions is not only person who is opposing Cir/skil.There are many people in the Senate are opposing. Everyone knows that congress is evenly divided on immigration. But 10 Senators can make a big difference if some compromise bill is introduced. So anything can happen in next 2 months in immigration. Sometimes short time is advantage as they may pass bill in a hurry and lot of provisions may be passed without big visiblity.

    No one can predict at this point of time. The optimism
    is thinning every day. So far nobody could come up
    with anything that is agreeable.

    Our best friend Sen. Sessions is trying his best
    to distroy any bill. Now he is trying to propose and
    implement a point based system. Who know when
    the point base system is ready for discussion he
    will propose a DNA based system....

    So my friend I'm scared to hope on immi

    If I go for appointment and they put case under PIMS review as I just got ext approval last months. Will they take passport with them ? if Not can I travel with passport and ask to close case of stamping ?

    How come most of the 2006 PD holders getting approved? I do not have any grudge against who have 2006 PD and got their AOS approved. I am just wondering as to what is making USCIS to choose only 2006 PD ? Definitely, the low hanging fruits theory does not seem to be working here. Anybody has any idea about that ? I am just frustrated.

    Because 2006 PD ppl are smarter than you. They just rock man. ha ha.

    Full disclosure: I am a 2006 PD applicant. (More ha ha).

    Hello,
    okay thanks for your replies..let me reiterate my situation.
    I have an Indian passport and I recently got my conditional GC (based on marriage to a USC).I am currently on a holiday in Australia .I got my single entry,3month visit visa to Australia,which was stamped across"Not valid for further travel" at the Sydney airport.

    Now my concern..I need to visit India in Sep and I was wondering if I could leave for India and return to Australia without having to apply for a visit visa again,now that I have my GC.
    Do I need to apply for visitor visa again to enter Australia ,eventhough I have a US GC (which enables anyone travel any country without a visa) and Indian passport.
    Please help answer my question....

    The statement highlighted in Red is not true.

    For example, UK does not allow GC holders without a visa whereas Switzerland has no such requirements when it comes to GC holders. So, check with the Australian Embassy/Consulate for their rules regarding GC holders.

    Washington, D.C., September 8th, 2006

    Immigration Voice member, Shilpa Ghodgaonkar participated on a panel on Immigration at the Indian American Republican Council�s fall conference in Washington DC on September 7th.

    The speaker list constituted prominent leaders from the Republican Party - Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, Senators Brownback, George Allen, as well as U.S. House Representatives, Speaker Hastert, Ros-Lehtinen, Ed Royce, Bobby Jindal and Joe Wilson.

    Speaking at the event, Shilpa called for more focus on legal highly skilled immigration and urgent reform of the antiquated employment-based immigration system, adding that loss of talent to other countries was not in America�s interest. Ms. Ghodgaonkar observed � immigration debate included illegal immigration and H-1B quotas, but the issues faced by the legal educated foreign workers working in the US and seeking permanent residency were largely ignored.
    Noting that 255,000 employment-based applications pending at the DOL (April 2006) and 170,000 to 230,000 applications pending at the USCIS translated into unconscionable delays, she elucidated the impact of bad bureaucracy on the lives of individuals: �During the long wait, highly skilled foreign workers are wary of buying homes, cannot accept promotions or change jobs for fear of losing their position in the green card queue � particularly because their job description is tied to the green card. Highly qualified doctors, scientists, engineers... etc. cannot utilize their skills to the fullest potential. Individuals cannot innovate and start companies that would create new jobs� lives are on hold. More importantly, employers share the same frustration, as they cannot access the talent pool available here in the US.�
    Illustrating how Canada, UK, Australia, etc. are competing to welcome creative talent, and citing reasons for shortage of skills in the US, Ms. Ghodgaonkar added that America direly needs to attract talent to sustain technological leadership. �Of the total legal immigration in 2004 and 2005, only 7.5% and 10.2% respectively went to highly skilled principal applicants. 2004-2005 figures from Australia indicate that their migration program comprised of 60% skilled immigrants�.

    "The last time the quota for skilled immigrants was debated in congress was in 1990. That was 16 years ago," said Ms. Ghodgaonkar. Stating that high-skilled immigration created a net benefit to the country, she urged lawmakers to address immigration in a piece-by-piece manner, and pass sensible legislation that would retain talent in the country. �This is basically a symbiotic relationship, which if nurtured well will bring rich rewards to the US as well as the immigrants who are contributing here.�

    Commending Senator Cornyn and Representative Shadegg for introducing the SKIL Bill in the Senate and the House, Ms. Ghodgaonkar concluded �The US can continue to remain the shining city on the hill, if it attracts high-skilled workers who will be great assets to this country�.

    Besides LUD on my approved I-140 on 7/13/08 (approved in 2/06), there were LUDS on H1B(approved 3/03, extended 9/05) on 6/28/08 and LUDs on I-485 (filed on 07/02/07) dt 5/23, 6/18, 6/25/08. Anybody seen recent LUDs on I-140+I485+I-129 BTW my pd is 10/05, EB2i Still waiting for magic mail. May lady luck smile on us. I have LUD on 140 for 7-13, on 485 application for 08-04

    Using AP does not necessarily mean that one is using the EAD. It is just a document that allows you to travel when needed.

    Elaine you can correct if I am wrong ? I had a question though... say the H1-B is valid for more than 1 year but if AP is used the I-94 given would be of only 1 year, should we then extend the I-94 or is our H1-B valid till the duration it is approved for..

    The I-94 stays valid as long as you stay working for that employer. Even though you entered using the AP, CIS has said that you can work pursuant to the underlying H-1B status.

    Unfortunately Yes...i had infopass appointment on monday and IO told me samething. NC has to be cleared before 485 can be approved. But they are targeting they will clear NC within 180 days after Feb 2009.

    Just read a post on a different thread where a 2006 NSC case was cleared without NC

    Thanks for opening this thread, I have a question which is not related to IV's core cause but suitable to this thread.
    I want to ship my car to India and don't know where to start, I would appreciate if someone could share knowledge/experience.
