Well, not working here in Central California but I think the feature is pretty cool. If I had more friends that used Twitter I would use that to broadcast my location. I have several FB friends that are constantly posting about golf courses we've played or vacations etc. This makes it much more streamlined in my opinion.

    edit: nevermind, just started working.

whats your machine? are you capable and comfortable with terminal controls? or need a GUI lol

you can read more Here (http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ)
    and Here (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=21908)

Im comfortable with terminal, and it seems less wasteful than a GUI. Im on a 2007 macbook (slow and steady and all that) but like I say its on 24h a day so should hopefully churn through some units.

I think Republicans just have this weird vision for America where everyone is capable and responsible. We're not. So we need

... free everything and someone to teach us how to wipe our butts. We have this weird vision for American where everything should be an incentive to be responsible.

    anything else promotes irresponsibility

"Hmmm, I already have health care, a second hand television, and enough food to live off of... Nahhh, I'll just look for a job next week" (all meanwhile we're swimming in unsustainable debt, and outrageous taxation) = nightmare scenario

the funny thing is that some of you would say "your nightmare scenario sounds awesome!", and that makes me sad

Is there a way to have contents (home folder, applications, settings, preferences etc) of my Macs (one in the office and one at home) have any exact content.

So I can leave my MacBookPro at work but at home pick up on where I left off on my MacBook? - have access to all the same apps and settings.

My only guess is to SuperDuper the drive once I have the final HD and keep adding on both as I add apps/content along to both.

    Thanks.

This is a TERRIBLE idea for the following reasons:

    1. You would need to have ever car fitted with the equivalent of an electronic toll collection system so we have can verified computation of miles traveled. Talk about serious privacy implications, to say the least.

    2. The cost of implementing such a system would be exorbitantly expensive.

In my opinion, if you want to cut down on fuel consumption, just impose an excise tax based on engine displacement and physical size of vehicle like they do in Europe and Japan. That way, it would discourage people from buying bigger fuel-guzzling vehicles in the first place. I mean, would you buy a BMW 750iL if you're going to be hit with a 20% excise tax on top of the price of the car?

And I thought you were all about fiscal responsibility? Why is it wrong to tax those who use the roads the most?

picture the 80gb ipod, in its current form factor.... that slides down like the LG Chocolate does, to expose a full qwerty keyboard... sweet

Hmm...I have a feeling both the iPhone and iPhone Pro will be flash-based though. But I think you're right they will both be slider phones. I think the iPhone "slim" phone will basically be like a shorter, wider iPod nano with a slightly larger screen and a slide-out keyboard - so it will be about twice the thickness of a nano. The larger iPhone Pro will be like a narrower iPod, maybe with a portrait screen orientation instead of landscape, and will again have a slide-out keyboard. I expect that the iPhone will have something like 2 GB and the iPhone Pro something like 4 GB or even 8 GB. I would be pleasantly surprised if either of these models had any expandable storage, but I doubt it. I think they will initially launch without expandable storage, and then add it later in the second generation of iPhones...

Strangely enough, I'm doing a lot better than I was when I attended college. Having my daughter totally shook my life up.

She is your motivation, and I completely respect and congratulate you on that.

4S. I like the name, and it makes sense to keep continuity with the previous naming scheme (3GS). I guess we'll see a true iPhone 5 next summer.

I think the next iPhone released would be called iPhone 5

    2007 - iPhone
2008 - iPhone 3G (instead of calling it iPhone 2 they wanted to promote that it had 3G speed capabilities)
2009 - iPhone 3GS (Want to call it iPhone 3, but used 3G, add S to avoid confusion
    2010 - iPhone 4 (4th version)
    2011 - iPhone 5

People are throwing around "Unix" and "Windows" like they used to throw around "RISC" and "CISC". There is no reason of which I am aware why a future version of Windows cannot scale to as many processors as any version of Unix, just like the nasty ol x86 ISA has yielded top-notch processors like the P4 and Athlon.

I think that everyone here who argues otherwise is engaged in a desperate attempt to justify their worldview that equates Apple with perfection and wisdom, or perhaps equates Microsoft with evil and boundless stupidity.

Yeah but some states have increased or set taxes virtually on everything and still managed to overspend their budget *cough*California*cough*.

I've lived virtually my whole life in California and have no clue what you're talking about.

    Perhaps you can source that.

As for balance, I'm a big believer in it. In my opinion an "balanced" solution includes tax increases as well as government cuts. Unfortunately, the republicans have fought tooth and nail against tax increases and have tried to balance a 26 billion dollar deficit with cuts. If only they embraced the notion of "balance".

He is perfectly right, the iPad apeals to the people who need something easy to use. Many people who don't know how to use/take care of there computer find there computer breaking (at least with a pc). People download things let there computer go to hell; folders, sub folders, clutter, and death lol. Even tho people do that with iPads too it won't break and it is an easy fix unless they physically drop it etc. Us tech geeks use everything for one reason or another, we are educated users. That is his point not that it only appeals to the regular people, but it is less confusing than a computer (not to say a mac is confusing but it is more expensive).
