Kind of a week video card isn't it? I dont know much about Vcards... but feels week. Perhaps its real nice though

What would you prefer, a day video card, or perhaps a month video card? :p :D

Logically speaking, weak minds would also think "a like".

Actually, it's technically "fools seldom differ", but I just like to ignore that part of the saying... ;)

If Apple is going to be including dual optical drives, you think it would only make sense for them to include more HDD drive bays as well, which to me would be just as (if not more) important and useful. But, perhaps they will not be able to with the added optical drive. Guess it comes down to how much they redesign the case.

    Where's the extremism?

obamacare in its smallest form is extreme

stimulus bill is extreme (and extrememly $$)

The extreme people he hires, etc.

Don't lose faith in his craziness just because he's postponed driving our country into the ground.

And it's a good thing he showed his birth certificate. How embarrassing would it be for us to look back, and the man who did all the damage wasn't even born here?

If you want america to be like europe. Go to europe and pretend you're in america. Don't jack up America for those of us who love it for what it was founded on.

(insert here where some smart-A responds with "slavery?" or something equally inapplicable)

This development isn't surprising, but reassuring nontheless that Apple didn't cripple the expandability of these machines.

Honestly If this does not bug you it should Apple along with Law enforcement have know about this they have been using devices to read this info and use it against the Phones owners if the info proves useful. Good I totally support a lawsuit Apple should be embarrassed and ashamed this is a big deal. Nothing should trace where your going and keep a record. This info can also be used by criminals but the true criminal here is Law Enforcement since they knew about this info and used it against suspects.

Please take note suspects are not criminals they are you and me and getting pulled over or involved with the Police. It can happen to anyone for many reasons other than causing a crime.

Apple has just brought us the closest we have EVER been to 1984.

    Protect our Freedoms

Rants are harder to read without punctuation.

Where'd you get the info on Apple and law enforcement? Little green men? Perhaps you tuned it in through your tinfoil cap?

Oh yeah... and here's a fun little nugget for those who like to tout Obama's coalition:

Here's a little fun little nugget for those who say "Obama's just Bush all over again."

UN Resolution 1441 (2002) was drafted by the US and UK, and presented at the UN by Bush.

UN Resolution 1973 (2011) was drafted by France, Lebanon, and the UK, and not presented by the US.

Like you, I would rather us not be involved at all - but we hardly have quite the same hand in this latest business as we did when we went WMD-hunting...

Is it your position that Libya represents a larger danger to American assets/security than Iraq?

American assets and security are deeply entwined with Nato. An emboldened Gaddafi would encourage the continued use of repression across the region, thus destabilising it even more. He would also probably renew his threats towards the West, bearing in mind the downing of Pan Am Flight 103. Gaddafi was also actively and genuinely pursuing weapons of mass destruction until the Gulf War bought him to heel.

These are just a few reasons that immediately come to mind from someone with only a surface reading of media that aren't parroting the conservative line, you should try it some time. I'm sure those who know more about the geopolitics of the region can outline more...

Why you keep on referring to Iraq when the scale of action in scope of resources and time isn't remotely on the size of the Iraq invasion, is a complete mystery. If you're attempting to make this Obama's 'Iraq' folly, then you will fail. This will be off the front pages of US papers in terms of US engagement within a week or two.

As for asking why not North Korea, I'm staggered you could even make a nonsensical comparison. A nuclear-armed nation bordering China?

"It is in America’s national interests to participate . . . because no one has a bigger stake in making sure that there are basic rules of the road that are observed, that there is some semblance of order and justice, particularly in a volatile region that’s going through great changes," Obama said

    http://www.boston.com/news/world/africa/articles/2011/03/23/obama_insists_actions_in_libya_serve_us_interests/

Translated: Above all, we want an arc of governmental and societal stability from North Africa to Afghanistan in order to protect oil supplies and our commitments to Israel.

What I personally expect is people to stand on principles, and not on parties. What I expect is that people live their lives in a honorable way and present a consistent philosophy.

Even though that philosophy might be bereft of any factual basis? You have an important lesson in life ahead of you:

When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?

This. Until this happens displays won't advance any further for actual computers (non-tablet) because there are so many form factors.

Apple can spend the time to make graphics for each flavor of iPhone or iPad because there aren't that many to deal with. It becomes a lot more difficult to do this across a large range of products. Besides, computers are getting to the point where they are too powerful for most users (hence the popularity of the iPad). A retina display option would give people more incentive to upgrade their desktops, laptops, etc. I think?

As a designer, I'd love a retina 27" ACD. 300dpi right on my screen, almost perfect. Now if we could just get the color/brightness a little more accurate...

I really don't see the point of a display anywhere near 300DPI for a desktop or laptop. My MBP 15" with the 1680x1050 display has a DPI of 128, and with this I can only see the pixels of the fonts if my face is 6" away from the screen, which is above the keyboard. If you have a monitor on a desk it is going to be at least a foot away, but probably more like 1.5-2 feet.

Some of Apples displays are still around 90-100 DPI which I could see upgrading from those to around 150 or so. The main reason they aren't doing it right now is because the menu bar and all other interface elements would be tiny. On my MBP they are already pretty small along with all the default fonts and that is only at 128DPI.

So some kind of resolution independence is necessary, I am hoping for a general fix and not just a retina display fix (2x) because there will be no in between. With a general fix they could implement a slider that allows you to resize everything to fit any resolution.

But back on topic, I am pretty surprised if this is true. I guess they are pushing for a summer release, but I guess they could be pretty much feature complete by now and just need to work out bugs.

Overall looks good, and I could really use the iCal sharing, but Spring? Come on!

Yamauchi helped design the GT-R i believe. Idk how much he contributed, but he had his hands in it.

I have my collector's edition preordered already. I'm really pumped for this game.

I dont think the signature edition is available in the US, is it? It would be $250 over here

Wow! Just about everything was bad ass! Time Machine seems awesome, so many times I have saved over a document and didn't have a back up. Now all I need is an external drive.

Were they serious when they said they were saving the best feature for later?

I just applied to a job at MS, its not the first time either last time they emailed me and asked for more information concerning the position -- had to answer questions on line   :p

This time I had to create a new profile though and in the profile where the resume was everything worked fine ACCEPT !!!

I could not enter ANY text in the field for the RESUME !!

I could only put 0 text in the RESUME FIELD !

So I submitted for the job, a resume name, but NO resume !!!!!!!

That's .NET technology for you ...

Hmm we have a Blu Ray burner in our duplication bay in 3 years and approx 1500 hrs of Broadcast HD TV it has only been used so editors can take home personal projects to screen them.

Really do not see the need for Blu Ray at all there are so many other better suited formats.

I think it's not as bad as what the media would have you believe, BUT it is worse than what Apple wants you to think.

Sure, cell towers could be up to 100 miles away. And when I ran the mapping tool and plotted my locations, and zoom in far enough, I do indeed see a grid of cell towers as opposed to actual locations where I've been standing. All anyone could know is that I've been "somewhere" in the vicinity.

(And this isn't new. Some time ago I came upon a car crash and called 911 on my cell phone to report it. They were able to get the location to send emergency services just by where I was calling from. It wasn't 100% accurate -- they asked if I was near a major intersection and I told them it was about a block from there.)

However, if it's also tracking wifi hotspots, those can pinpoint you pretty closely. Most people stay within 30-50 feet of their wireless router, and the ones you spend the most time connected to will be the ones at home, at work, and and at your friends' houses.

Potentially yes. However as people stated, it was way out of proportion. Media is one end, Apple is the other like you said. I'm sure like 99.1% of things, it lies somewhere in between them.

I use my computer as a "real computer" and I like virtually every change I've seen. I wish people wouldn't generalize so broadly and presume that because certain additions aren't something that they use that it has nothing to do with "real work."

I'm not a birther. But I would love to know why the certificate looks new when the president is nearly 50. Now I'm about five months older than he, my original birth certificate has faded. The certificate he produced clearly isn't the original. Or if it is the original, it's astoundingly well-preserved.

If you'd care to read the stamp at the bottom of the document.
It is a true copy of the record on file in the Hawaiian State Department of Health. Dated 25 April 2011.
I doubt they leave their records lying about to get faded and illegible so of course a scanned copy is going to look pretty good.

Not that I'd take you as a birther, of course…

My girlfriend went looking for a ps3 120 in 2009 for my xmas gift but they said they only had the 250 models. Well, she got me the 250 but just two days later Best Buy had them 120s piled high a mother******!
And if any of you remember Elmo Gate from back in the day the same thing. No tickle me Elmos in Wallgreens but a day after xmas they were everywhere.

From the developer builds and such, there doesn't appear to be anything compelling or major to warrant anything more than a minor upgrade.

Yeah, disappearing scroll bars. A full size screen. Woo.

The UI and basic functionalities have stayed the same since Leopard, sprinkled with a bit of iOS features. Snow Leopard was a tune up, to establish the Intel line completely and such.

Yet retained most, if not all of the Leopard UI elements.

Personally, it just looks like a rough merge of iOS into the OS X environment without any refinement.

If we have to fork out $120 or something, forget it.

I guess my Leopard PowerPC Macs still look up to date then :)

New window management system, viewing options
New way to download, install and view apps (app store + launchpad)
    New touch controls
New way to save and revise files
    Various UI improvements
    Dead simple wireless file sharing

Honestly, what were you imagining? Is apple not addressing every basic area of personal computing with Lion? Many of the changes are in mundane areas but are radically different...
