I know I'm probably gonna get blasted for this, but does anyone else think Longhorn's GUI looks kinda cool? It's a little bit cluttered and slightly too bubbly, but it's still pretty sharp looking. There seems to be a lot of little graphical details that give it just a snazziness, once again that could just be me.
Of course, by the time Longhorn comes out, I'm sure Apple will have come out with something far superior and far sexier.

It all depends what youre looking to do with it. For simple anonymous browsing, some providers offer this for as little as $5/month, or even for free. But if you want a total Internet traffic anonymizing experience, a premium VPN account is a better way to go - theres no IP numbers to configure into the webapps, and no software to install - just set up the VPN and its done! Other VPN selling points include:

Regardless of when it comes out, this version will likely get the A5 if I had to guess. Next year will be the year of LTE plus a form factor change. The iPad 3 and iPhone 6 may actually keep the A5 for the first time in years (for the iPhone line).
I don't see a need for an A6 until foundries move to the 28 nm node and apple can either shrink and clock the current A5 higher (while still getting better battery life) or go quad core. When 2013 hits we can start talking about Eagle designs hitting smartphones.

Protein: p1155_L939_K12M_298K_DT_250ps_clones
Run: 46 (Clone 203, Gen 0)
Frames Completed: 0, Remaining: 400
Dynamic steps required: 5000000
This work unit was choking the PowerMac G4, which was doing one frame per hour. It would take the Mac seventeen days to finish the unit. How does a G4 user tell the Folding server to not send TINKER units to G4 CPUs? Waiting three weeks for a result, when an x86 system could have the unit done in a few days, is inefficient.
"Seventeen days? Hey, man, I don't wanna rain on your parade, but we're not gonna last seventeen hours. Those things are gonna come in here just like they did before, and they're gonna come in here and they're gonna come in here and they're gonna kill us!" -Private Hudson

I guess there was no reason to continue. They were prob not making much of a profit on VPC anyhow and 3rd parties already had it covered.
Are they working on a universal MS Office?
I think MS is just plain PO'd at Apple and Steve Jobs right now. :)

Aquisition for Mac OS X is also a very stable, very efficient and easy to use P2P program. I use it to preview songs before I actually buy them on iTMS... ;) Good luck!

Absolutely not, because this is not what is happening.
What is claimed here is a method of adding the "FairPlay" DRM to music from other stores than iTMS, so that companies other than Apple can sell music with DRM that can _only_ be played with iTunes or an iPod (that is, 80 percent of the market) instead of selling music with Microsoft DRM as they do now (which plays on the other 20 percent of the market).
As an example, the Beatles could use this to sell all their music on the Internet with DRM to iPod owners, without going through the iTunes Music Store. They could make more money that way; for the iTunes user or iPod owner there would be no difference.
Ah, thanks for clearing that up.

It shouldn't make any difference. Are you seeing any problems or is this just precautionary? I have my iPad technically plugging in (charging via USB from my laptop) all the time and I never get any trouble. I don't track when it reaches 100%.

Yeah, sorry. Those too.:)
Thanks :) It would be sad if only Intel-chips could enjoy this.
With +- 80% PPC-users it would be a bad move from Apple to.

i think it's a little pointless using end of hardware life cycle numbers from the DS and the PSP to now go on making big asumption ... at the end of 2011 the revenue numbers might as well tilt towards the portable makers again with their new hardwares released

I was not aware that I broke a rule. I read some of the other blogs and thought this is in the same vein. Now what? MS
thats why you should read the rules, if you dont, you wouldnt be aware would you ? lol, FYI, this isn't a blog, it's a message board, whatever rules apply elsewhere, they dont apply here, thats why this board has it's own set of rules ;)

Use OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org/), it's free and handles .ppt files great. It has its limitations but will serve your needs and you can't beat the price! :)

Who didn't see this coming? Microsoft is crashing...hard!!!
I actually see this as a good thing for Microsoft. Like Apple did when Steve returned, they are cutting everything that doesn't make sense so they can focus on their strategy. Steve killed Newton and it got a lot of flak for Apple similar to this, but it was the right call.
Microsoft has it's toes in way too many pots. Figure out a strategy, pursue it, and ruthlessly cut everything else without succumbing to 'sunk cost' syndrome of throwing good money after bad money.

Group,
In my opinion the Classic are is listed incorrectly in regards to categories and lists. While the data is mostly all correct, we have most of the early Macintosh models listed under "Macintosh (Original series)" and a separate section with Performa and Workgroup servers.
In my opinion if we separate the Performa series and Workgroup servers, we should also separate the rest of the group. In most cases when someone states "Original Macintosh" in the collector discussions that would most always only include the compact Macintosh models like the 128, 512, plus, and perhaps SE, Classic, and Color Classic models.
I seriously think we should move these "other" categories up one level and list them as follows to make it more clear, and concise.
Example
68K Desktops
Macintosh (Original series)
Inside this link would list...
128k
512k
ETC..etc..etc..
Macintosh II Series
inside this link would list...
II
IIx
ETC..etc..etc..
Macintosh LC series
inside this link would list...
LC
LCII
ETC..etc..etc..
Macintosh Performa Series
Macintosh Workgroup Servers
I think you get the point of were I am going with this. My only point for bringing this up, is due to the fact that we are getting lots of categories with nested sub categories. We should first create a hierarchical listing that is flat, and nest within that detailed information containing the specific models within the noted series.

it doesn't seem like he's going to release his old 4.3 exploit, although I could be wrong. He was waiting for chpwn to provide an iPad 2 bottom dump but I don't know whats going on with that.
What's the reasoning that he won't release the 4.3 exploit? That's disappointing. A lot of people are still on 4.3 on the iPad 2.

Try the tips here: http://conzone.com/blog/2009/12/mating-a-dell-1110-laser-printer-and-mac-osx/
Never used that printer, so I can't vouch for the solution there, but it looks like good suggestions.

I used that solution with SPliX, and I actually gained features.
Thanks guys, I've had this problem since Preview 1, and it for pretty annoying to have to keep booting into SL every time I wanted to print!

I know someone who has an original iPhone 2G 8GB still sealed and may be willing to sell it. How do I tell if it's a refurb? Or if it's an early or late production model? The box shows all the old original icons and does not show the App Store or iTunes Store on it as an app.
I am thinking about buying it to collect (and leave it sealed) but I want to make sure it's something worth having.
By looking at the serial number on the back of the box, how do I tell if it's a refurb? What country was it sold in? When was it made? What information can I get from it?
No, I do not have the serial number at this time.

In glen cove, long island, so iPad would have to be re synced on their comp?
I think I'd have to enter my password for the app on his computer to synch it. Then sign out.

Money is already withheld for Social Security every check so how hard would it be to just take income.
Everyone who pays you doesn't withhold Social Security. Only if you're an official employee. How is it withheld from your ebay or other income profits or if you're freelance? You have to turn in quarterly returns if you're freelance. When you sell items you pay on your profit minus expenses.
