MacBook Air 11.6" Smaller Size Apple Product

undefined

Apple Inc is set to launch a new 11.6-inch MacBook Air, an Intel Core i-series ultra-low voltage processor and a new iPod Touch in the second half of 2010.

The new generation of devices will be manufactured by Quanta Computer, according to a senior analyst at Digitimes Research.

The 11.6-inch MacBook Air will feature “an even slimmer and lighter design than the previous-generation models.”

* Smaller form factor. Particularly, it will become an 11.6 incher coming from the smallest macbook yet which is 13.3 inch.
* It will use an SSD card instead of the conventional hard-drisk drive (HDD). This was said to be the secret ingredient to make the form factor of the new macbook smaller.
* Since it used an SSD card, its rebooting time will be faster; comparable to Apple’s handheld units (e.g: iPod, iPhone and iPad)
* It may use another type of processor rather than the usual Intel brand. The leak suggests Apple may do a partnership with AMD to launch a newly customized processor for this device, thus making the form factor even smaller.
* Now that the size is smaller and it will use an SSD and AMD type of processor. There’s a big chance that this device will even become cheaper as well.
