Yep... Considering Apple did nothing to provide a Snow Leopard Server connector for Windows 7 and beyond, kinda makes Apple's server offering redundant in a mixed-platform environment these days... SLS in name had potential... but... whats under the hood isn't up to the quality of the Apple logo.
Great to see some EFFORT on polishing the server. Based on my experience using it over the last 18 months, they would have to give me the next version in order to even consider it... Guess they are :)

Thicker or not, I think the white iPhone is rather odd looking. Looked great online, so we went into the Apple Store to pick one up for my wife. We were both disappointed with the phone in person, however. It just looks like plastic, and the white doesn't seem to work well with where it meets the aluminum.

Why does everyone get so sensitive whenever someone points out a difference in race, culture, etc? It's not like someone said "That <insert racial slur here> can't even say iLife right! What a retard!" Everyone wants to be different and unique, but no one can handle their differences pointed out in a humorous way.

Your concerns are understood. My question is: how does this differ from having your wallet or credit card stolen? Amazing that we'll secure our computers up tightly to prevent online security breaches but we'll let the sketchy-looking waiter walk away with our credit card in the restaurant.....
OK - I admit that I can a certain tendency toward paranoia :o, but...
With respect to credit cards, most eating places where I am in the UK bring a machine to the table rather than taking the card away. A PIN is required. Also, one can erase or cover the 3-digit number on the back so that you reduce the chances of your stolen card being used online. My worry is that the RFID will be so automatic ('convenient') that you'll be able to wave your phone to purchase goods or services, without any other conformation of your identity. And it is true that security so far on RFID is far from perfect: indeed, one can now purchase shielded passport covers that reduce the chance of criminal access to sensitive passport information via RFID .
EDIT: Also, didn't O2 trial something called 'Wallet' that allowed a mobile phone to be used to buy things? I wonder how the trial turned out...

The iPad is not a tablet PC. You can still pay $2,000 for a tablet PC if you want. The iPad is a tablet yes, but it doesn't run a full blown deskptop OS (I'm not getting into that argument).
My point is, Apple used to offer excellent discounts to students and teachers across all of it's product ranges. It's a shame they're not offering the same with the iPad.
Who cares??? its a $500 device that can replace all computer needs of any student. Period.
I'm tired of hearing this backwater lack of imagination. Every student should have an iPad, and the great news is that most can afford one, even without "discounts".
Anyone ever consider that Apple isn't offering much of discount right now, but will at a later date, probably during back-to-school season a.k.a. once supply is high enough and demand has slowed.
Thinking more than 4 feet ahead is always good.

It's interesting, really. Apple has really high standards, that much is clear. Don't get me wrong, it's part of what makes them a great company. If there's one thing that can be said about this story, however, it's that that other people's standards are clearly not as high.
It begs the question: How many projects have Apple put the kibosh on, that people would've bought... at a premium, no less??

NTSC video is 720x480 whether it's 4:3 or 16:9, it just uses a Pixel Aspect Ratio to squeeze or stretch it on playout to 640x480 (4:3) or 854x480 (16:9).
Stick with 720x480 (until it's time to output for the web, at which point a square PAR is sensible). In Streamclip you can specify the aspect ratio but I'm not sure whether this ends up as a tag in the transcoded video or not...

I like the iPhone 4 form factor. I am tempted to get one. But with early controversy about the antenna problems and the prone problems of delicate glass, I would not mind a new form factor that could help improve future iPhones.

Whoever advised them to not put the maps onboard and download as needed, needs to be fired- poor decision.

That brain dead decision has elevated their products usefulness to that of Google Maps. Maybe just slightly better. But from a user experience driving in the middle of nowhere and then coming into an area where you need street date etc. ...that design just SUCKS big time. When you need it most ...major , MAJOR FAIL.

It seems these ads are almost a carbon copy of US versions which are translated into Japanese.

In that US version ad, the Japanese chick says the PC guy looks like a "otaku." I think "Otaku" is roughly translated to homeboy (stay-at-home guy or geek).

I was excited for this app. when I heard about it. The evening it was released it kept crashing. I gave up on it then; and the intro is a little much too. I'm deleting it. Thanks for letting me down again TWC.

If you watch the 2nd Youtube video, at around 40-43 seconds you will see the volume buttons dont have their engraved "+" and "-" markers, so this is definately a prototype phone. I also noticed where the rear camera is there is no silver ring around it as well. It also looks as if the antenna is also painted, but this is probably the light reflecting plus the very visible "ring" around the home button (raised). On the same video at 1.08 in the Settings screen you will see "Carrier Settings" with a new "C" logo, plus "Developer" with the "D" and "Internal Settings" with an "M" logo. At 1.13 you will then see when he choses "Carrier Settings" you will see "Show WiFi RSSI" / "Show Internal Apps" / "VMAC" which to me seems to possibly mean "VirtualMAC" which may be the reason for the new search function as well. Under "Logging" in "Carrier Settings" you see "Logging" / "Baseband" and "Enable VM Logging". At 1.15 I could make out the following options "Enable Bypass Mode" / "Activate Bluetooth Test Mode" / "Activate Data PDF Context" / "Deactivate Data PDF Context" and "Ping Testing". At 1.25, I also noticed under "General" an option that says "File Sharing"
So far, most of these options seem to indicate this is a test version of iOS.

I've repeatedly tried to log in to use it and the Time Warner application tells me my password is invalid. Several contacts with customer service failed to resolve the password problem. :mad:
So i deleted it and I'll just keep using Netflix which DOES work :D

The government already manages my retirement and my healthcare. Managing in-app purchases seems like small potatoes. Really, there are no limits to federal power anymore. They should just do whatever gets them a few minutes on TV to get re-elected.
