Breast cancer to bra models - Amanda Featherstone

AS Amanda Featherstone prepared for her fifth breast cancer op in two years, she never dreamed that just four years later she would be posing as a lingerie model. The personal assistant has been photographed in a new Marks & Spencer bra range aimed at women who have had mastectomies - and she is delighted with the results.

She says: "I couldn't believe something so lovely had come out of my worst-ever experience. Posing for the shoot, I felt feminine and sexy. "My husband always said I still looked sexy and when I saw the pictures, I believed him." The mum-of-two was only 34 when she discovered a lump in her breast after her two-year-old, Hannah, prodded her cleavage. Amanda, now 40, says: "I looked at what my little girl was touching and couldn't see anything. inside of my left breast, I then felt a pea-sized lump. I was terrified. "I hadn't been checking myself for lumps but I called the doctor for the earliest appointment. "I told my husband, Chris, and he looked sick with worry but assured me it was probably a cyst - and I wanted to believe him."

After an examination by her GP, Amanda, was sent to the Princess Royal University Hospital, in Farnborough, Kent, and given tests including a biopsy of the lump. Ten days later she was diagnosed with breast cancer at Sloane Hospital in nearby Beckenham. Amanda, of Farnborough, says: "I looked at Chris's stunned face and felt my stomach drop. I thought, 'I can't have cancer, I'm a mum.'

"Was I going to be there to watch Hannah and her seven-year-old sister Isabelle grow up?" Doctors were confident that a lumpectomy op (to cut out the lump) then radiotherapy would remove the cancer. The surgery went well, Amanda's scar was healing and she was waiting to start radiotherapy when, in May 2003, she found another lump, on the other side of the same boob. It was cancerous and Amanda was told she would not undergo radiotherapy but would need her left breast removed.

She recalls: "I panicked. I thought I'd never feel feminine and sexy again, though Chris assured me it wouldn't change the way he felt about me." Two weeks later Amanda was booked into the Princess Royal University Hospital for a mastectomy followed by breast reconstruction.

Muscle was taken from her back and remoulded into her left breast, together with a silicone and saline implant. She says: "In bandages for a week after the op, I was in agony and feared what my breasts would look like. "But as the dressings came off, my boobs looked great, all symmetrical. I was over the moon." But in November 2004 she found yet another lump, this time above her breast implant, and was again diagnosed with cancer then given a lumpectomy and radiotherapy.

She says: "It was a hard time." Afterwards, she wanted to raise awareness about breast cancer and appeared in a women's magazine. It was then she got a call from breast cancer charity Breakthrough, telling her Marks & Spencer wanted her to model for them. And with the campaign a huge success, she is excited about what's in store for her. She says: "Now who knows what the future may hold? Maybe more modelling?"

Fashion Model Denise Richards Reveals Breast Surgery Secret

Howard Stern took a shot and asked actress Denise Richards a personal question regarding her breasts, and her answer shook the world of entertainment news. During his Sirius Satellite Radio Show, it was revealed that the star of Denise Richards: It's Complicated has gone under the knife three times to enhance her chest area.

The 38-year-old former fashion model related the story to Stern and the rest of her audiences, pointing out that her breasts were "natural on the outside, on the inside they are not."

Richards claimed that she got the operation "a long time ago," when she was struggling to make it big in the industry. She said that at the time, she was young and didn't know what was good for her.

"I was 19, and my roommate had the best boobs ever, and she had just had hers done," Richards explained. "I was flat as a board, and I thought, 'Whoa, you can just buy them,' and stupidly had them done!"

When the procedure was over, the reality TV star realized that they didn't exactly fit her well, as they were "too big for [her] body." This led her to have a second operation, but she unfortunately forgot to tell the doctor to reduce the size.

"The next guy put bigger ones in, and it was not good -- they were a D!" Richards told Howard Stern. The surgeon immediately assumed that she wanted a more voluptuous figure since she was going to be an actress, but it wasn't so.

Luckily for Denise Richards, her third procedure was a success. Now that she's undergone all that, she hopes that other girls would learn from her errors too. "I was young and should have researched better. You know, it was a big mistake. Young girls, don't do it!"

Heidi Klum didn't want to break pregnancy news so early

Supermodel Heidi Klum was taken by surprise when her husband Seal broke the news of her pregnancy, as she didn't want to break it so early.

The German beauty refused to confirm the baby news when it broke earlier this month (Apr09) and was stunned when her husband decided to tell his fans the stories were true during a show.

"It kind of came out faster than I wanted it to," Contactmusic quoted Klum as saying. "My husband kind of surprised me and everybody at one of his concerts. He was just on tour, so he kind of told everybody... He's allowed to obviously," she added.

Meanwhile, Klum admits her fourth pregnancy has given her a sudden burst of energy and insists her fourth kid will be her last. "That's pretty much it. I'm very happy with four. We're both happy with four... I think we're complete, Fourth Baby Will Be My Last" she said.

"We'd be happy with either," she told in her first interview about her pregnancy. "But it would be a lie if I said we all weren't hoping for a little girl -- especially Leni, because she would love to have a little sister.

Klum and husband Seal will officially find out the baby's sex "probably at the end of the month," she says in an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show that airs Monday.

Klum -- also mom to Henry, 3, and Johan, 2 -- says she and Seal "weren't planning" on having a fourth child, "but we also weren't not planning either.

"We were kind of leaving it open," she continues. "We were always looking around the table and always thought one more would be nice. And we kind of took one baby at a time and every time we thought yeah, one more that's it.... But I think now it's the first time I feel like this is it."

AUSSIE supermodel Miranda Kerr wants to be a mum. The Victoria’s Secret angel revealed her little secret at the launch of a new push-up bra in New York. The girl from Gunnedah, who has established herself as one of the world’s most popular models, revealed she wants kids of her own.

“Yeah, one day down the line, of course I’d love to be a mum - it’s definitely something I’d like to do,” she said. She was talking after the launch of the new Victoria’s Secret push-up bra in New York yesterday.

Kerr, who turns 24 in a fortnight, also hinted at her business-focused ambitions away from the catwalk. She will launch her book, Treasure Yourself, in time for Christmas, and has several other projects in the pipeline.

“It’s an inspirational, motivational book for young women,” said the model, who swears by organic food and a regular yoga routine.

“Definitely, I have a few things going on at the moment that I’m not allowed to talk about, which is really annoying, but I can’t,” she said. Kerr said she was not opposed to a movie role, although she was not actively pursuing a career in film.

“If there was a good role that I found interesting, I would do it,” she said. Kerr eventually wants to break out of the sex kitten niche she has lucratively carved for herself. “I don’t look at myself as a sex symbol, I see it as a job that I really love,” she said.

Kerr sent her love to her Mum, Therese, in Australia, ahead of Mother’s Day next month.
“She’s incredibly generous and understanding. I feel like I can talk to her about anything,” Kerr said. Her boyfriend, actor Orlando Bloom, was not at the event, at the Victoria Secret flagship store in Manhattan.

Kerr, who visited Australia in February with Bloom, will be in Australia for another David Jones catalogue shoot this year.

“I am coming out again in the next couple of months,” she said. Her globetrotting lifestyle made her appreciate home even more.

“I have travelled around the world, like, way too many times, and the thing is that I am so grateful to be Australian - we have so much beautiful nature and beaches - things people don’t appreciate as much as they should. And if they travelled a little more, then maybe they would.”

Bridget Hall signs on with Marco Bicego

Model Bridget Hall has appeared in ads for everything from Guess Jeans and Pepsi to Valentino and Versace. And now she’s adding designer jewelry brand Marco Bicego to her ever-growing roster of high-profile campaigns.

Beginning with the March issues of C, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and W, the fashion model will appear in the brand’s new 2009/2010 international print advertising campaign, shot in New York by fashion photographer Kenneth Willardt.

Hall will wear pieces from the brand’s “Jaipur” collection, which includes designs crafted in 18-karat yellow gold with colored gemstones such as amethyst, peridot, blue topaz, and rose and green tourmaline.

German designer Wolfgang Joop has attacked fashion model Heidi Klum calling her “too heavy” to be a catwalk model, bild.com reports. Joop told Bild: “She is no runway model! The brand’s designers, identical twins Dean and Dan Caten, wanted to portray Dsquared2 women as angels of war and feel that this promotion reveals the idealistic contrast of beauty between universally recognised opposites: ebony versus ivory.

The two iconic fashion models of the Nineties battle it out in a statuesque struggle but despite them looking quite evenly matched, we have our bets on Naomi coming out on top.

Dsquared2 have always tried to incorporate red hot sex appeal in their fashion shows, making the headlines in 2003 when Christina Aguilera performed a catwalk striptease with the male models.

The 24-year-old was unfairly blasted by the Brazilian media for her “cellulite and love handles” after walking in Sao Paulo Fashion Week in June, and was then harshly dubbed “too fat” by fashion critics following the lavish lingerie show in November.

Kurkova has told Tarts in the past that her diet is comprised mainly of fresh vegetables, salad and protein. But for several weeks leading up to last year’s Miami show, an inside source said that the supermodel cut carbs altogether, and worked out for hours in an effort to keep up with other super-slim fashion models Angels Heidi Klum, Adriana Lima, Miranda Kerr and Marisa Miller.

“She was exhausted and didn’t get down to where she wanted to be,” said the pal. Apparently her weight woes may have more to do with a medical condition than with just a lack of willpower. According to an insider, Kurkova joins the ranks of 27 million Americans who suffer from the thyroid disorder hypothyroidism, which interferes with the body’s metabolism.

We’re also told that the Czech-born beauty (who is the eighth highest-paid supermodel in the world, according to Forbes) almost didn’t strut in the 2008 VS show, and the final decision to let her bare her bod to billions wasn’t made until the last minute, which is why her name was kept off pre-show press materials.A rep for Kurkova did not respond to calls for comment.
